I was tagged by Brian Hollendyke to name the top 15 movies that will stick with me and well, here they go: 1. Moulin Rouge - I saw it the first time with someone very special to me, and we both had a very deep response to the many themes the film touched on.. and loved the music. 2. Our Idiot Brother - Paul Rudd was awesome in this film, and as a youngest brother to older sisters, I felt like I could relate to his characters simplistic perception at his sisters seemingly complex problems. 3. Yes Man - Jim Carey was a childhood hero of mine, and his ability to be funny while thought provoking will always hit me close to home. I saw Yes Man when I was diagnosed with Chronic Anxiety and it helped me want to push myself further and really live. 4. Gorgeous - Jackie Chan was my other childhood hero, and his fight scenes with Alan are incredible in this film, the story is pretty sweet too. I like when Jackie gets to actually act, and he shows a very fatherly affection towards those in his life who seem to be at odds with themselves. I appreciate the multidimensional-ism of his character C.N. 5. Its A Wonderful Life - My Dad and I have watched this film so many times because the message will never be untrue: Live is a gift, and we have to fight through the struggles and pain to reach the reward that is appreciation for what we do have. 6. The Encounter starring Bruce Marchiano - This is a Christian Film that shows believers that life could be interrupted by God himself, and still, some wouldnt even give him the time of day. -A reminder that we need to look at ourselves honestly and listen to our hearts and our understanding of what is really best for us. 7. The Passion of The Christ - I cant watch the movie without getting down on my hands and knees and repenting of my sins. God is great, and his sacrifice was no easy thing.Knowing that his actions echo even today, well, wow, Im so undeserving of that love, that when it stares me in the face, I weep out of raw gratitude. 8. The Grand Budapest Hotel - Just wow. I saw it at the Oriental in a theater of three people and Adam D. Faraca and it was brilliant. I was outraged when I left that there were only five of us there to applaud. 9. Edward Scissor-hands - This movie shaped much of my understanding of the less understood as a child, and helped me give everyone I meet the benefit of the doubt. Also, I mean, his hands were scissors, so, come on! 10. Bridesmaids - Just hilarious. 11. Friends with Kids - The love story that develops and the comedy surrounding it, while also proving true, is just amazing. The film touches on so many misconceptions about what we all think we really want, it just won me over. -Not to mention the cast is amazing and Megan Fox actually acted.. like, well. 12. The Trouble With Angels - This was a childhood favorite that my sister Rose and I would watch and never tire of. Haley Mills at her finest pre-Saved By The Bell moments. 13. A White Christmas - Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby. If you havent seen it, do yourself a favor its just warm fuzzies and good ole American Values. 14. Some Like It Hot - Jack Lemon just owns it, and its ridiculous to the core. 15. Drum roll please... number fifteen is: Face Off. That was the last movie my two sisters, my dad and I all saw as a family before she grew up and moved out, followed by the rest of us. Having all of my siblings and my Dad in the same theater watching something that was cutting edge cool at the time will always make this a favorite. -And the acting is just outlandishly good, bad, and ugly at times. It embodies the 90s.
