I was tagged by some friends so...LETS DO THIS! DragonCon debriefing 2014 (copy and paste in your status) Where I stayed: The Sheraton Best panel: Biased...my costuming panel...standing room only! Though the Hobbit guest panel on Monday was hilarious and fun! Best costume group: Biased again and going to say our Fellowship! It had been a dream of mine to be able to compose a full Fellowship one year, and we finally did it. Though brief, it was a dream come true, so thank you for all that participated! Best individual costume: Hard to really judge here, seeing as there were so many fabulous ones this year that we saw in passing. Im still in awe over Cressies LotR wedding dress, which we awarded Best in Show to at Evening in Bree! Pages of the book printed onto chiffon and individually burned! Plus her pantaloons! SO beautiful and definitely worth the award! Also to my friend Gayle as Chewie...cause shes the best Chewie! Favorite moment: When Adam Brown jumped off stage to meet my friend Lizzy in her Lady Ori costume! Her face was priceless. Evening in Bree as a whole was great. Biggest regret: Not being able to hold my head up! I was so damned tired and irritable half the con. Im getting too old. Final thoughts: There were a ton of good moments. But I love that I can still go down to the bowels of the Hyatt and find people playing Werewolf, like I did 10 years ago. When I was wandering around this new place, looking for stuff to do. I still dont like Saturday after the parade. TOO MANY PEOPLE. And complete disregard to costumed folks. I was in the bathroom on Saturday, after almost passing out as Gimli from the complete lack of cool air in the Marriott, and my friend Sasha was helping me put my beard back on. Some lady just started talking about how people dont need to be in such huge or ornate costumes here. Right in front of 2 costumed folks. I just...WHAT. Dragoncon is where everyone brings your A-Game in costuming. Its been that way for a very long time. Just respect others, please. Ive heard some horrible stories this past year of touching problems and what not. DONT TOUCH PEOPLE. Wtf is your problem? Do you have space issues? Are you a close-talker?? LEAVE PEOPLE BE. Do not jump and grab thing on people. Do not step on peoples stuff. Do not jump on people for a picture. The amount of pudding brains out there is frightening. Anyway. Im also done with people being overly jealous of others for no reason. I get it if you dont like someone, but I witnessed petty jealousy in MANY forms over the weekend, that made me downright sour. MOVE ON. Other than that, I believe that Saturday badges either need to be capped or done away with and that security should be upped. As most of the badge checkers were either asleep or barely noticed anything on Saturday in particular. The gawkers off the street thing needs to go away. But we had a pretty decent 10th Anniversary! Good roomies and good times at Bree, the 70s party and Fellowshipping! Those were definitely some highlights! Thanks to everyone who made time to come over and talk, and to all those who recognized us! You helped to make our con great! How was your DragonCon?
