I was talking about Harvest Fest with Jose this morning and we were telling each other the funny things that happened and people we saw and I was thinking about how great it was seeing my friends and getting to paint kids faces and lots of warm hugs and seeing so many children having a great time....one year ago the scene was very different. It was still Harvest fest but I was glued to a chair and in pain. My legs were so swollen I couldnt wear shoes and my stomach was so swollen I couldnt sit....what I didnt know was that there was a huge tumor inside my body that in 10 days would threaten to take my life. The reason I was there was because my beautiful daughter was dancing with her group and I wanted to be there to support her. Now, dont get me wrong, I am NOT complaining!!! I am NOT trying to garner sympathy for my past pain just as I was NOT looking for sympathy that night or any other day during my illness...what I want to point to is the FAITHFULNESS OF GOD!!! I was sitting in a chair at the end of the night last night when our Pastor came over the say hello and as he walked toward me I was struck by the overwhelming contrast of this year compared to last year. In one year I have struggled with, suffered from, and conquered CANCER!!!! And I give all the glory, all the credit, all the praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! There will be people in my life who will not believe this and will tell me it was because I am a strong woman but they would be wrong. I pretended to be strong...before Jesus. I woke up each day of my illness only because ouf the strength of Jesus...I walked around smiling and joy-filled only because of the joy of Jesus....I survived because of the grace and mercy of Jesus!!! Oh what a year it has been!
