I was talking to a friend today over tea and we ended up talking - TopicsExpress

I was talking to a friend today over tea and we ended up talking about God being a generous God. He made a really interesting statement, which I appreciated because I hadnt thought of it that way before. He said something of this effect: ...but if we tell a large group of people that God is a generous God, wouldnt it make them feel bad if some are in a season of lack? I responded, But why do we also tell people God is a Healer when there are people who arent healed yet. Wont it make them feel bad too? I think more were in a season of struggling, the more we need to know God as the Healer or as the Provider. Its when we dont feel it in a particular area that we need to know who He is in that area. I dont know about you, but Ive been in seasons quite depressing that I had to remind myself, hold on, and know God as my Hope, my Anchor, my Father. I think sometimes it can be the most insensitive thing to say, Oh, God will take care of it. Sometimes people just need someone to listen to them or offer them a hand. But I am so encouraged to also see Christians who walk with faith so outrageous that it is provocative--they make me jealous! They believe God with childlike faith when there are times no one else believed. Didnt Jesus both move in compassion but also provoke all who hung around him? God, I welcome You to wreck our understanding of whats possible, that we would be people with faith that challenges the world.
