I was talking with my children/teens yesterday about being careful what we watch on television. Now I think that I am fairly permissive because I dont forbid too much. But my daughter was talking about some show Coven (American Horror Show) and another witch/zombie something being so funny --and I cautioned them that this is not all just fantasy. My son was clueless that there are real witches, warlocks, occult folks - voodoo is real and practiced today and that all of that is now being depicted as normal, sometime harmless beliefs. It is not. I told them that continuing to watch this stuff causes you to become normalized to it, like its okay. (Its not) or you start accommodating and incorporating these belief symptoms into yours and syncretism creeps in. What you dwell on then becomes who you are. As a man thinketh,so is he. We are caretakers of our own hearts and minds and we must be much more selective in this information age. One Sherlock Holmes quote stuck with me and that is this fictional character tried to unlearn all the rubbage that cluttered his mind and kept him from focusing on his purpose and mission. That we should be so discriminating. Just because its out there doesnt mean its for you. #Choosewisely.
