I was tasked to do a review for The Crowns Final Hotpick.. and heres my article: 88 wonderful women battling for the crown of Miss Universe tackled the stage showcasing their amazing bodies as well as the elegant evening gowns that was created for them. But theres going to be only one girl that will make their national flag shine the brightest in the universe. The Crown admins have collectively came up with its own tabulation of Top 15 and we proudly present our RESULTS of the final hotpicks: 1 PHILIPPINES - MJ Lastimosa with her fierce catwalk ramp the stage wearing a stunning white gown which was designed specifically for her by the Colombian fashion Designer Alfredo Barraza. After coming out of the stage wearing spectacular 2-piece pink bikini for the swimsuit competition, she locked her position tightly in the top spot! Since Venus Raj and Janine Tugonon, MJ is one of the most formidable contenders Ph has yet to offer. If we carefully look at all the events leading to this point, one can say that the MUO is actually leaning towards crowning a Filipino beauty. Although some odds are against her – age-wise, height, huge teeth and all that hooplah – one cannot deny the fact that MJ is delivering the goods and that’s all that matters. MJ was in perfect form in the prelims and one can argue that she is the most prepared Binibini to compete for the Miss Universe crown. So, our two cents goes to MJ! Total points - 695 2 COLOMBIA - There has been a lot of love for this Colombian goddess and Doral is rooting for her to win. So does The Crown! Just a minute gap in the final tally as she totaled a number of 610 points in the end. A 5-point difference from The Philippines. There’s really no need to justify her inclusion in the final hotpick, she will be in the final 2 come finals night. She may have appeared a bit timid during the prelims but we can’t deny the fact that she’s a showstopper! A little push and we may have a second Colombian Miss Universe in the history of MU. 3 PUERTO RICO – The unwavering beauty and those cat eyes have already become the talk of the town. Truth be told that on Sept 9, 2014, a Puerto Rican newspaper, El Nuevo Dia and Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional, both printed an article stating that Gabriela Berrios will be the next Miss Universe. A prediction that caught fire between Migby and Gabby. But that settled the moment they congenial in the photoshoot. Aside from her having the same first name as the turning over Miss U, they both share the same passion in charity and business ad. Could these be signs of her reigning supreme and claiming the crown from Isler like what the latin newspapers have predicted? Whatever the result may produce, Gabby is our 2nd runner up finish in the final hotpick. Total points - 370 4 USA - Nia Sanches is USA’s Latina bet for Miss Universe. Although it’s a bit reserved placing her as 3rd Runner Up since it’s a homecourt advantage but this girl is gonna be a formidable force to reckon with. Her red gown in the prelims is a statement in itself. She has all the armors in her artillery and she might just place higher in an unexpected turn of events just like how she pegged her way in the Miss USA pageant. Nia has a lot of surprises stored in her bag. Can’t wait how she will surprise us all in the upcoming show of beauty queen giants. Total points - 365 5 COSTA RICA - If you noticed her in the prelims, she will be noticed in the finals. A deserving contender like Costa Rica is a Miss Universe in the making. She ousted her C group only Colombia preventing a weak sash to her name. Sentimentally, she performed decently well in the prelims that could just make a decent cut through the top 5. Her beautiful facial features specially when she smiles dart a soft spot in everyone’s heart. She was breath-taking in her gown. More energy and more amft on stage and she could just take a spot in the Top 3! Total Points - 355 6 SPAIN - Her tattoo raised everyone’s eyebrow and most conservatives would be a bit skeptical of her because of this but no one can deny the fact that she’s here to stay. Her prelims performance made impact and the crowd loved her as much as they loved Colombia. Spain is a silent killer and she will conquer the universe on the 26th just like how her ancestors conquer the globe with fierceness and religion. Aesthetically speaking, all Latinas borrowed bits and pieces from her genes as she primed in her own league of beauty. A simile of nations that Spain atop the food chain. Tattoo or no tattoo, she is a top contender. Make way for our top 6! Total points - 310 7 JAMAICA - is the most beautiful delegate of color this year. She wowed us all with her uncanny Hollywood regal beauty topped with her riveting performance that catapult her a top 7 spot in the final hotlist. This girl is like an unchartered island waiting to be explored. Aside from the front-runners, it will be exciting to watch Ms. Jamaica strut herself easily into the top 5 and kill for the win. Out of all the candidates, her body was the most perfectly fitted to her gown, which was just an eye-candy to look at. Her killer body is a reminiscent of Halle Berry as a bond girl in the epic the James Bond movie. Nobody can contest a bond girl, c’mon! Total points - 295 8 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Kimberly Castillo shows no signs of stopping as she hooked a top 8 finish in our final list. Her prelims are strong and looks like she’s just enjoying every minute of this experience. This might as well be her winningclaim to the title. Unexpected yet fun. During the prelims, her stage presence is a clear standout and her posture is amazingly rightful. She has this natural beauty that encapsulates charisma, confidence and personality in one incarnated form. If she surpasses the others, it’ll be surprising as though Miss Thailand winning the Supranational competition. The only difference is, this is a good surprise compare to the later. Total Points - 285 9 UKRAINE - although this goddess was a replacement of the original winner Anna Andress for personal reasons, Miss Ukraine believably have what it takes to perform better than Anna – and performed she did! It’s been a while since we last saw a European blonde in the Top 5 but her angelic features are breath of fresh air that could just break the bad luck streak. She wore one of the best gown in the prelims and judging from her swimsuit performance, it is confident to say that she’ll breeze her way through to the top 10. It will be a crucial standpoint after the top 10 mark that she makes it to top 5 because if she does make it, there’s a slight chance that the odds may make a swift turn to her favor. She ranked higher than the Philippines in terms of the gown and total MU quality. So let’s see how the scenario pan out. Total points - 260 10 INDIA - Noyonita may receive harsh criticisms from fans and critics alike as she performed poorly in the prelims. Notwithstanding, she still has the trump card as her salvation. She has all the necessary tools to make an exotic Miss Universe but a lackluster performance may hurt her final rankings. Let’s hope the judges won’t feel the same way. Total points - 235 11 MEXICO - Her spunky and energetic performance in the swimsuit competition and how she knot her hair up ala beauty queen style gave us a glimpse of what Mexican Miss Universe would look like. We felt that Josselyn Garciglia’s youthful glow gave a fresh entry to the Miss Universe jazz. Her evening gown performance was astonishing and the color choice of her gown matched perfectly her skin tone. So kudos to her designer for playing it right. Total points - 200 12 SERBIA - Arguably, she has the potentials to be in the top 5. As a previous Miss Earth top 8 finalist, she’s one of the more experienced candidates that graced the MU stage. A repeat of performance from ME is not a very good idea, which was apparent in the prelims. The Crown is adamant that a change in formula and back to the drawing board for a well-managed plan could solidify her placement amongst the heavy powerhouses. If she won’t make it in the finals, she can always be one of the topmost highest paid models in victoria’s secret angels. Her beauty says so. Total points - 190 13 BRAZIL - She overdid her performance. There is quite a reference to her gown as she played it fairly but her swimsuit was a recession to desperation. She doesn’t need to overperform everything as her beauty is already an explosive mythological presence. Her facial feature is her best bet to get into the top 5. Just KISS – Keep It Short and Simple. Less is more! Simplicity is beauty in this case is apparent to her demeanor. They should’ve hosted the pageant this year in order to secure her placement. Let’s hope she gets feedback of her prelims and improves to strength her weaknesses to strengthen her strength. Total points - 175 14 VENEZUELA - Were you surprised? Well, not us! Her mark down was the undisciplined and lack of training which reflected in the prelims. A strict all-carb diet and an intense daily workout is vital in achieving a very competitive environment. Migbelis even needs an overtime to even catch up to the ever elusive title amongst the hungry candidates. Do you think it’s too late for a back to back win? We think so too.. Total points - 160 15 ECUADOR - This girl is very talented. She can whimsically imitate a Hollywood celebrity or even candidates that she has known for a while. Her prelims though is a bit discreet and lack a fighting form. Her beauty is a prowess on its own but her personality on stage needs a little more polishing. There’s no doubt that she has a great personality up close, but maybe her stage freight got the best of her tantamounting to a top 15 finish. Total points - 140 And these round up our top 20 with BUBBLING UP: RUSSIA AUSTRIA GUYANA ARGENTINA ANGOLA How was it? Should I start a blog?
