I was thinking about all the times I have come across stray Boxer dogs. The most significant time was... I was about 26 years old. I had been doing Boxer Rescue for about a year. It was overwhelming, there were a handful of us managing the tri- state area. Michele M Cartle in CT, Jean Lubreuil in NJ were the two most active rescue folks. I worked closely with Jean. I was on the phone or on the road or at the vet all the time collecting unwanted Boxer dogs. It was a time in my life that I was starting a business and just feeling drained. I blew off a day of work and decided to pack up my mountain bike and head for the woods. I was thinking about taking a break from rescue. I thought I will take the day off clear my head and pray/ think on it. I was in a park Upstate NY. The brush was so dense that I had to walk my bike through this section. So, im walking along and I see this animal running in the woods. Im like OMG, that looked just like a Boxer? I now think I am really losing it and I think Fawn Colored Deer is a Boxer. The animal comes back into my range if site..... it still looks like a frigging Boxer dog. I began calling pup , pup, pup. The critter comes running over! IT WAS A FRIGGING BOXER LOST IN THE WOODS! I took my shoe laces off, made a leash and collar and walked my bike and the dog out of the woods. I was able to find the panicked owners at a camp ground. She had been missing for hours. AHHH, GOT MY ANSWER ABOUT BOXER RESCUE THAT DAY :) I have been in it since :0 I still shake my head, when I remember this day! Talk about a clear answer in no time :)
