I was thinking about when I was flying home yesterday. When I looked out the window I imagined herds of Buffalo in a manner that I could not even count them all, I imagined villages, families and most of all, I imagined laughter, peace and song of gratitude upon the land. The way it use to be. It is getting harder to imagine this today but some how I can still find it in my mind. Only when I am able to look beyond the tall smoke stacks and the tall buildings. I also have to over look the many homes where people may know their neighbors but dont truly care about them. We talk about humanity like we still have it. What is humanity? I dont even know if I know. What is there to be of the future generations and what is to come of the world when the last memory goes back? What is to happen when the desire to be who we are created to be is no longer upon the hearts and minds of people? I dont know who I am, I desire to know in this life. I do know that we were once a people that had a love that was so powerful there was no room for jealousy, we were a people that knew no sadness or poverty, we were a people that lived our prayers, we were a people that had no hate, we were a people that had no distrust, we were a people that had no labels, we were a people that had no competitiveness in the mind, we were a people that lived without complaint, we were a people that lived without judgement, we were a people that truly lived for the Creator. We were a people. I heard my Misun Chief Joseph Brings Plenty say To be a common man is very hard, but to be a common man is were the power is. I also heard my Misun Chief Leonard Crow Dog Jr say Spirituality is not something we just say, it is a commitment. I am thankful for these wise brothers. They are great leaders. I am thankful for all my brothers and sisters who are always encouraging. You are all very wise and always have something helpful to share. Wopila tanka to you all.
