I was thinking today about how desperately we struggle to create, preserve, justify and defend our individual beliefs, and all of a sudden this weird analogy popped into my head. It occurred to me that its all like Bubble Soccer. We have these individual bubbles of belief that weve built around ourselves. And our big puffy belief bubbles that surround us protect us pretty well from the trauma of a collision while we stumble around trying to make sense of things and come into contact with different belief bubbles. But, of course, the tradeoff is that our well-padded beliefs also keep us from really touching each other.
