I was unable to attend the entirety of the Mayoral candidates meeting last night, so I could have missed the question… However, I was surprised the topic of the Russ Beach Airport did not come up. First off, I am not proposing a position for or against funding, I do however have several questions. The facts I know: 2011 Budget allowed $31,116 to the airport commission 2012 Budget allowed $33,866 2013 Budget allowed $26,116 2014 Budget allowed $25,616 What does this funding allow for the airport? What % of Smiths Falls residents utilize the airport? Therefore, what is cost per Smiths Falls user to the town? What benefits does this investment provide to the Town of Smiths Falls? (what is the return on investment/value?) What would be the effect to the airport commission if this funding were reduced or eliminated? (What is the risk of not providing it?) What do you think?
