I was unfriended by some after this post. One person I have known for almost 20 years. Therefore, here it is again. It was in response to a post from the HRC supporting Marriage Equality. This is about more than equal marriage. It is about equal rights under the law for everyone, and that those laws must be free of fear, religious beliefs, social/racial bias, and economic status. I am reminded of the words of Haile Selassie That until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a mans skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; That until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race; That until that day, the dream of lasting peace and world citizenship and the rule of international morality will remain but a fleeting illusion, to be pursued but never attained, One but needs to insert holds one religion,orientation,political view, economic status,... Into the paragraph. We have time and time again beat down the head of the hydra that arises to hate and or repress a group of people. Women, children, families of diverse racial back grounds,people who are simply different from it, the list goes on and on of those whom the ignorant have singled out. Today we do not yet have the federal laws in place to fully protect those who love same gender partners, as we do the above groups Once again, I hold that this is not a religious issue, it is an issue of law. Unfriend as you see fit.
