I was very sad to hear that my former teacher and friend Sensei Louie Izzo died of a heart attack on Friday. Sensei Louie was a very tough man and great teacher. He was the #2 teacher to my teacher and friend Amir Ardebily of Amir Amir Academy of Martial Artswhen I was the in college and lived in Florida. Sensei Louie was a student and teacher of Uechi-ryū a very hard style of Okinawan Karate with very hard conditioning--and through Amir Ardebily martial art styles including Chinese Kung Fu and Iranian Kung Fu Toa among other arts. Sensei Louie could break baseball bats on his shins and I would hurt myself when I was punch or kick him. He had bricks broken on his stomach by a sledge hammer. Banging arms to condition arms with Sensei Louie would bring great pain. One time I went to an Italian Restaurant in St. Pete Beach or Tierra Verde ( I liked their Gnocchi but this is over 20 years ago and I forget the name) and Louie came out and served me the food (He did not work there nor did he own the place)--he was from New York and Italian--and a student of Okinawan hard style conditioning Karate and a student and teacher of the Amir style of martial arts and a very tough guy and a good teacher and a good guy. I am sad and sorry that he had a heart attack and give his family my sympathy and respect and I pray that Sensei Louie Izzo has Memory Eternal!!! I will miss you Sir! Timur Makzume
