I was watching a movie, a timeless movie whose moral can be applied throughout many generations, and at the end of it, there was a clock ticking in a scene where two people were doing the same thing over and over again until the movie credits started rolling with names of people who worked in that movie. As the clock was ticking I said to myself, it has been a long time since I actually heard a clock ticking. Electronic devices and smartphones are now doing the job inside our pockets .. silently. It was a simple clock but with the functionality of an alarm clock, who made me realize I have lost perspective on how much a second lasts, hence, lost track of time, and how fast a minute goes by, and how faster a year goes by without even me acquiring the habit of writing the date on a paper and wrongly writing 2013 instead of 2014. The paradox is that I constantly look at my phone screen, until it became a involuntary habit, but despite that, I cant tell you what time it is .. or what year it is. In a month Ill be 24, looking back at it, I abruptly realize I havent done much, I missed a lot of things, and screw up a lot of opportunities because I was busy planning for 10 years ahead, therefor, missing small things that happen on a daily basis, things that are as small as a freckle, you might not notice it if it was the only one, but when you add them up, you get a beautiful ornament on a bright face, like an arabesque lantern made by a wise old artisan. And just like the movie, the clock kept ticking and the names of people I knew started rolling up the screen until they disappeared off the reach of my eye. Small things are as significant as a life goal, and when you cease them up together, they enlighten space for you to see the bigger picture, and cease your life goals.
