I was woken up about 230 am by someone banging on my door yelling FIRE call 911. I ran outside to see the home a couple houses down raging. All the neighbors turned out to help save Marie Peavys house next door. We couldnt do much to save Cherie Drangers home but Maries house was protected from going up by Doug Mckinney who woke up the neighborhood and manned the hoses strung from our houses to fight the flames off Maries house until the fire dept arrived. He sustained some burns but hung in there with only a garden hose and some wet towels wrapped around his legs.Thank you Doug and the Walters Volunteer Fire Dept for saving our neighborhood. Cheries home was a complete loss so remember her family in your prayers. Thanks again Doug!
