I was wondering tonight what the spontaneous gatherings were around the neighborhood. Its truly like a holiday or a Saturday night. Almost every eighth house on my way to the store had a gathering of people outside it. Kids playing, music bumping, food and drink flowing. It took me a minute as I ran through the possible reasons for the late night good tidings. Then it made sense, check day. I miss the days of wanton abandonment of my teenage years. I will linger no more on the contrast as my work day starts early. I shall endeavor to be productive tomorrow and pull my weight as so many depend on it. I wonder if contribution to the common good was more voluntary would my neighbors be more considerate with the hour so I could get some sleep.
