I was writing something longer and douchier (well someone had to throw a bucket of cold water on this issue lol), but apparently Mike Rowe already said most of what I was going to say. Check the text accompanying his photo. Pero ilagay ko na rin main point ko, lol. The next time you participate in a viral marketing campaign for whatever cause, ask yourself the following: are you doing this because you actually knowledgeable and/or care about the particular cause? Or are you doing it just because everyone else is doing it? Do you genuinely give a shit and know about the cause you are supporting or was your participation mostly just due to peer pressure and social media imagecrafting? And this is also partly the reason why I dont vote. Excerpt from Mike Rowes post: [But here’s the thing - if you decide to give charitably, it’s important to understand everything you can about the way your money is going to be spent. That’s not happening here. The spectacular success of the Ice Bucket Challenge is not the result of a conscious, collective commitment to rise up against a terrible scourge; it’s the result of a marketing campaign.]
