I watched Nobodys Foll with Paul Newman tonight because I wanted to see a really good actor who could make me believe it. Last night I watched Twilight with Paul Newman. I know everyone thinks of the other twilight but in fifty years it will only be a faded memory and Twilight with Newman will have stood the test of time. Do you ever find yourself looking for things that last? I went looking for glasses the other day and found, plastic, synthetic, polymer, etc., all designed by the manufacturer to last just long enough but not too long or you wont spend more money. The wonderful American concept of Planned obsolescence. We used to try to make a better mouse trap and now we calculate how long it has to last but not too long so we can get in the consumers pocket again. I have silverware that is being used by a third generation and the funny thing is I can still eat with it. I have to find a way to communicate the nearly lost art of value to a 14 year old who is living in a throw away society. I havent figured out exactly how Im gonna do that but Im working on it.
