I watched The Limey (1999) for probably the 10th time last night. Working with a superb script by Lem Dobbs and a host of brilliantly cast actors, including two 60s heavyweights (Terence Stamp and Peter Fonda) who beautifully evoke that period, director Steven Soderbergh creates the ultimate neo-noir mood piece. The film unfolds in an unconventional manner, using snatches of foretold dialogue and flashbacks, working to a climax that is nothing short of poetic. It is, quite simply, this master filmmakers best work.
