I watched the LBC Farage – Clegg debate with interest last night, although being Irish it does not directly concern me. Nick Clegg mentioned a number of times the new law that requires a referendum if further powers are to be transferred from the UK to the EU. He also made a number of references to the Lisbon Treaty. Perhaps I, as an Irishman should remind him of something pertinent. We Irish had a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, we voted NO!, the EU then told us to have another referendum and vote YES. This is the EU take on democracy, can Nick Clegg GUARANTEE the same thing will not happen in the event of a UK referendum?
