I watched the most amazing study done on the brain on CBC. It had a part for amputees and phantom pains. I have a friend who recently lost her foot just below the knee. Apparently you can mirror phantom pains by showing the limb you have in a mirror. Also we feel nerve impulse, (or pain for them) just by watching others move. Apparently the body is mapped on our face. It is the closest place to left brain and right brain. So you can actually tap a persons left part of the face if the left arm is amputated and parts of tapping on certain parts of the face cause phantom pain and or movements in the hand. A person can hold the left hand next to the person and the other persons hand makes them feel their own hand. I am wondering where the foot is mapped out on the face. I learned you can circumvent the phantom pains to a different place. This opens up so many things nerologically with paralyzation, sports,. The best skating yr I had, I visualized. I let my body jump in muscles while I thought about races. I have always been facinated by how strong our nerves and brains are.
