I watched the movie Far and Away again with Tom Cruise and Nicole - TopicsExpress

I watched the movie Far and Away again with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. I really love this movie. For those of you McCall relatives, grandpa Millard Fillmore McCall and some of the other McCalls actually participated in the Oklahoma Land Rush in the late 1890s, that is portrayed in the movie. Watching the movie, I visualized my grandpa going through the same thing the actors did when they tried to get some of the free land in Oklahoma. Grandpa McCall wasnt lucky enough to get any land, otherwise, we would all be living in Oklahoma, but evidently two of his sisters and their husbands did, and settled in the Oklahoma Territory. Millards parents also moved to Oklahoma from Missouri. (I have a story that Aunt Mamie (Millards daughter) wrote, thats in one of my fb albums, that tells about her and her brother, Ole, living in Oklahoma with their grandparents. This is also the last movie we took my mom to see before she passed away. She was really excited about going to see it because her dad had actually been in the land rush. She also was excited because director Ron Howard had asked her great nephew, Doug Bratcher, to make barrels and other props for the movie at his cooperage in Liberty. We all went together as a family, about 20 or so of us, to see the movie, and then waited, after everybody else in the theater had left, to see all of the credits at the end, waiting for Dougs name. Thats just how our crazy family does things and I wouldnt trade them for anything.
