I watched the sun burn out Not a sizzle nor a pop But like the gentle fading of a candle met by a strong breeze Brief, cataclysmic and hauntingly beautiful There it went Never again to provide light to the undeserving Never to sanitize the night air of its promiscuity or cleanse its breath which wreaks of the most egregious of misdeeds Never to caress another cheek with its tender hand So evil roamed the streets in its stead, hiding under beds and in the closets The very creature that causes monsters to fidget in their slumber The very spirit that causes Death to lock his door And here I sit, cold and alone With only pleasant and naive thoughts of a happiness long gone to keep me warm Yes, I watched the sun burn out today And since, I havent moved Still here I sit My coldheartedness to complement my frigid soul Foolishly wishing for a world now gone, for an evanescence that will return no more...
