I watched this (via LoveFilm) the other night because I was interested in the story of a man and his travels with a large format camera around France. However the story is so different to what I was expecting (not having seen this trailer before I ordered it). Raymond Depardon began his career as a photojournalist in the early 1960s. He travelled around the globe including to many areas of conflict including Algeria, Vietnam, Biafra, Prague during the Russian occupation and Chad. The majority of the film is concerned not with Depardons current stills photography, but instead focuses on his archive of previously unseen film snippets taken by him during the last 50 years and kept, locked away, in his cellar. If you have an interest in photography, journalism or even modern history I personally think it is well worth 90 minutes of your time.
