I went and saw Noah today with dad. First of all Im neither - TopicsExpress

I went and saw Noah today with dad. First of all Im neither for or against religion and my general knowledge of the story of Noah is pretty basic. Some parts of Noahs story can actually be considered as history, whether youd like to believe that or not. Personally, I think leaving your beliefs (for or against) at the door as you see this movie and just enjoy this incredible tale. The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins and Emma Watson. The directing is just massive in scope, everything is presented on a massive scale and looks beautiful. Aronofsky has done an excellent job bringing this story to the screen and really breathes life into an epic tale. The acting on all accounts is great, some standouts were Russell Crowe and Emma Watson who both really brought their a-game to this film and also Anthony Hopkins with his little spots of humor in the film. The story centers around Noah and his family as they build the ark, then battle and endure both the storm and the people who have lost faith in The Creator. For a good portion of the film Noah is somewhat painted as someone who is willing to follow what he thinks The Creator has communicated to him even if that means making decisions that are not for the good of anyone and will do more harm than good. It really is not a film that is trying to tell you how wonderful these people were. The set pieces in the film are awe inspiring, they actually built about a quarter of the ark in scale and it looks brilliant! The landscapes they actually shot on for the film are breathtaking also. The CGI parts also look fantastic and all the animals look so real. A lot of the imagery in the film looks abstract at first but really ads to the feel of it all in my opinion. The only real problems I had with the film were that at times it felt a little slow, some parts could have been cut out although the majority fit well and kept the story going. Also I must add that the film does not preach, it is simply the telling of this story. If youre not already planning to see Noah and love epic films, this should be on your list to go and see. The story is excellent, it is acted well and presented beautifully. Aronofsky continues his streak as a great director and Russell Crowe continues his rightful roles of epic characters/people. I give the epic and powerful Noah a 4/5.
