I went as hard as I could at this, the Australian Obstacle Course - TopicsExpress

I went as hard as I could at this, the Australian Obstacle Course Racing League. I attended so many events, raced so often, my body started to let me down. My strategy was to outwork and out sacrifice where I couldnt out run. My aim was #1 at all costs. It was that simple. And I failed. Another failure to add to the tally. Another screw up. Add it to the pile. And be glad for it! No, I didnt win, at least, I didnt win the title. A more deserving athlete and quite the gentleman racer, Lachlan Dansie, earned number one. But friends, did I WIN this year! Experiences. Friends. Tolerances. Knowledge. Career. Insight. Patience. Hope. Experience. Confidence. Humility. Love. Happiness. Its been my willingness to try, and ability to harness failure, that has allowed all this to happen. To see the failures build, yet have a single, shining moment of triumph at first indecipherable outweigh the entire stuffups pile. No matter how large it grows. Shoot for the stars, I implore you. Sweat, and cry, and struggle. But keep striving. You grow, damn it, you just keep at it. But when you fall short. When you realise you cant get those stars, and the fact is, you were never meant to, you take a moment to look around you and take it all in. Because the life youve learned to live is far larger, yet so much smaller, than it ever was before. And its a life so much better lived.
