I went for a (5 mile) walk this Xmas morning. With the California-like weather it seemed the right thing to do. Walking along, listening to some inspiring tunes on Pandora, feeling the warmth of the sun on my shoulders, I couldnt help but reflect on how good things are. Here I was, enjoying some marvelous weather, motoring along at a brisk pace under my own power, spending quality and quantity time with my mom & family for the holidays. (Ive seen 3 of my nieces playing basketball. Last night was the annual Xmas Eve dinner at sister, Sheilas. This afternoon were all gathering at brother, Kens. Tomorrow, its family movie day. Sunday is a big family gathering for Aunt Cathys 75th birthday.) Im healthy, Im hale. I have loving family. I have caring friends (and on both coasts). I am able to make time for travel to indulge my passion for the outdoors and photography. My work situation is flexible and supportive enough (so far) to enable my recently chosen bi-coastal, traveling lifestyle. Things arent perfect of course. This is the second Xmas without Dad. (He is sorely missed.) Some friends and family are not so healthy and/or fortunate. Not perfect, but when is it ever? Pondering on all of these things I couldnt help but acknowledge that its not just the nice weather, and good health, and decent income, etc. that makes for a good life. (Those are great/important to have of course.) Supporting all of that is the relationships one has. That I have. Friends and family. All my family and friends are what truly make me a lucky person. What makes life so good. Each and every one! Near and far. Close and not so close. Theyre all important and contribute hugely to my good fortune. To my much appreciated, good life. So to you all, thank you, and a Very Merry Xmas and Happy Holiday Season to you all!
