I went for a walk today and i met with the devil. It was small and old and frail looking at first. It called out to me indicating a need. As it approached, i was eager to be helpful. I was surprised because when it began to speak it did not need help. Instead, it had something to offer. First it asked about my home. It asked if i was safe. First, it offered me shelter. It said i could have a place to stay. Next it offered to feed me. It told me it had plenty of food. It told me it feeds many people. It told me it would feed my children for me, if i let it. Finally, it offered me recreation. It said, stay with me, play with me and let me play with your baby. I told it no, and then it took away its mask and revealed its sharp teeth and scales. It became the ugly thing it was and looked me in the eye. It showed me scars and it said it had strength. It told me of the many things it had hurt. It told me that others would tell me too. It told me it was strong. Then it told me not to fear. It said others would tell me not to fear. It told me, it feeds many. I told it i was going away and it began to followed me. I did not look back. I wondered how long before I would be safe. I wondered if i was doing the right thing. I wondered if i was being brave enough. I wondered if it could tell i was willing to fight. I blocked the way as it followed me.
