I went for my 3-mile walk-around-the-block today, so heres the town news: a huge cottonwood tree has fallen across S.Miller, completely blocking the road. Fortunately the largest part of the trunk was parallel to the road, so the rest should be cleaned up soon. In other news, the huge underground gas holding tank was dug up and removed from Express Stop (AKA Tiger-Mart if youre old-school). The job supervisor confirmed that the property has been purchased, and that the tank was outdated and no longer met the new standards. A crew member confirmed that the track hoe was scooping out soil samples to be tested for contamination. This leaves plenty of room for speculation as to whether the new purchaser is seeking approval for a new gas holding tank to replace the old one... otherwise I would think theyd just leave it buried. What do you think? Whats the local gossip? (Yes... this is what my life has been reduced to.)
