I went for two concerts the other day, a full on Bollywood show and a full on Classical show. Something of learning to me was that in both types of shows there were different kinds of people having fun. Entertainment is percieved differently by people. For some it takes some serious appreciation of music and a steady, unending performance by an artist and for some its about the showmanship and entertainment being so engaging and interactive that they feel like getting up and dancing and having a party. At some level its beautiful to have both kinds of art, or rather all kinds of art. To see a classical performance where the musician had people 100% engrossed with him at every pause of his santoor, and to see a bollywood show where even a 70 yr old lady felt compelled in joy to stand and dance. Both had their merits. To many, if the halls were interchanged it would seem like a boring night. and thats the beauty of the world, that it all exists. The thing for an individual, is to try both and know which one suits them. Then alls well. Of course there are people who can enjoy both. thats also great.
