I went out, as I customarily do each morning, to survey the landscape and see if the barn cats made it through the night. Lumpy, the fat barn cat, came marching up the driveway and it seemed he was making this weird dry cough kind of noise, like cats sometimes do when they have a hairball. But it was louder and had a tone, sounded like chalk on a chalkboard. On closer inspection, I realized there was also a large wild hen turkey walking up the drive right behind him, making noises... it was one of those "howdy doody" ventriloquist moments. "Haha, you fooled me, Hen Turkey. Go away, there is No Vacancy here. We are full-up with poultry. ChickyChicky will not allow another." So she disappeared under the barbwire fence and went back down into the holler.
