I went to Chinatown in Singapore recently, and frankly in my opinion, it has really changed from 牛车水 to 唐人街. The neighbourhood is selling Chinese delicacies I do not recall from my childhood (the 1st and 2nd generation of early 1900s 南洋 era), and instead updated with familiar comfort food of our more recent immigrants and friends from China. I am still undecided emotionally on this; but thought Id just put this observation out there.
