I went to Reno to take my state board test to get my CNA license. I passed my test with flying colors. I wasnt stopped to see if I was endangering the patient. I remembered all my Sven ins and outs. 1: wash hands unless told otherwise by the instructor ( hand sanitize instead). 2: knock 3: greet the patient or resident by their preferred title. 4: introduce yourself by name and title. 5: explain what youre going to do. 6: check wrist band. 7: provide for privacy ( close curtain). Those were my ins I had to do four separate times for each new skill on the same patient. 1: ask , are you comfortable? 2: ask , do you need anything else?. 3: open the curtain 4: lower the bed back to its lowest horizontal position. 5: wash hands unless told otherwise by the instructor. 6: give them their call light. 7: document care given. I had oral care. Denture care. Respiration measurements and transferring from bed to wheel chair. I didnt have to stop and wonder what I was doing. By going slow and taking my time I was able to finish a 37 minute test in 22 minutes and have fifteen minutes left over when I was done. I was even congratulated upon receiving my results from the BON. She gave me a huge hug and said that she was glad i passed and I can go out and make a difference. That the world needs more young people like me to go out and make that difference. Then she said my dad was waiting for me downstairs and I started laughing while crying. So now I can go off into the world making peoples lives better.
