I went to a Concert by the great, following (although years ago, now) Maynard Ferguson - whom I have also had the fine opportunity of seeing and meeting on Long Island, a couple of times, once in fact in Roosevelt Field Shopping Mall (oh, what ever happened to those fabulous (g)olden days, now actually during the last Century, if you really think about it, when they hosted and sponsored such fine Free to the Public, Cultural Events; I too, having performed in that same locale) - Arturo Sandoval and his Band at the Landmark on Main Street Theatre in Port Washington (where I too have played - in Opera Orchestras); also the town where the world renown John Phillip Sousa lived, in addition to his house in Greenwhich Village, in New York City. I have performed in at least several dozens of Concerts, of numerous musical styles and genres there, even having met Sousas granddaughter at a performance I played, having performed as a soloist, at the John Phillip Sousa Band Shell, about a quartet mile west, on the water on the opposite side of the street. A really cultural town, Port Washington...; and now back to Arturo Sandoval: besides the outstanding Maestro and solo Elite Musical Artiste himself, all of his Musicians were, in fewest of words, of the utmost/highest caliber! I even noted that his Conga players, whose technique was dazzling, hands were so relaxed, moving extremely fast, to the point that you could only see but a blur, analogous to the tail of (on) a Comet.
