I went to a political debate at Auckland University last night. There were politicians from ACT, Labour, National, The Greens, The Conservatives, Mana and The Maori Party. There was definitely some good content thrown around, but I found it incredibly challenging to listen to some of it. It just made me see the whole political system as a way of plugging up holes with old rags in a huge dam - as the pressure builds more and more behind it. Now Ill be honest, I did boo, blow raspberries and woohoo a couple of times (thank poetry slam days, why do we all act so white when fighting for our country? Bring the noise!) but for the most part I realised that none of these men were actually evil. They were just indoctrinated and misinformed. Im now writing a bigger piece on my experience and will post it on my blog soon. Innit a juicy life.
