I went to an open mic event I had not attended in a few years and was pleasantly surprise by the atmosphere. It seem a little more mature or different than the last time I went. Or maybe it was me (smile). But as I sat there and listened to the artist perform, my belief in the need for more and more of these opportunities for expression became clear. So many people need a place other than social media to express what they feel. These events can bring together a community and help build it into something more than just people living in the same space. We all have stories we can share about love, pain, struggles and concerns. Its not always about finding the next big superstar. Some people have a gift they just want to share with people around them. Some people have concerns for the world they want to express to people in their community in hopes it spurs them to take action. Some people want to tell a story in hopes it will help someone with a situation they are going through. Will you listen? Please listen. Because you will learn something...if you allow your mind to be open. I hope you have a good day.
