I went to court today to defend myself as I am being sued by the nursing home where my mother spent her last years before passing away a year ago October. It was an excruciating 7 years of watching my mother and all of the other people that live in nursing homes, hospitals, hospices deteriorate, which emotionally wrecked and depressed me. I have been hit with a huge bill by the nursing home that was miscalculated for which I was served papers that said that I can defend myself. I checked into court, waited hours. The Plaintiff and I spoke so she knew that I was there. Without them calling me she went into the Judges Chambers and they made a judgement against me based on wrong date, wring amounts , and never invited me in to defend myself which it said that i was permitted to do on the motion. The Plaintiffs attorney came out and told me that they got a judgement against me. I asked her if she told the Judge that I was there and she said that she did. I am livid. What kind of justice is that. I have a lawyer that i pay to consult with but I represent myself PRO SE. I am pretty upset as you can well imagine. I am reminded of so many that endure false judgement, its maddening!
