I went to see The Coast of Utopia in previews and the veteran actor, Richard Easton, collapsed on stage after shouting his line, and that is my FINAL WORD!!!. he turned and walked out stage left but fell flat on his face right before getting to the wings. the EMT came through the stage door and right onto the stage and we all just sat there and watched them work as though it was all part of an ordinary night at the theater. fortunately, in a week or so, he was fine and opened the play a few weeks later -and stayed with it through the entire run. but when I returned to see it the second time I really held my breath after he delivered that line again. what is it about those moments happening in concert with the script? strange...
