I went to the ER about a month ago for a cut on my finger. They used some gauze, a syringe to clean it with, some glue and some tape. The Dr. spent less than 5 minutes with me, the technician cleaned and bandaged it. The whole experience was less than 15 minutes. The hospital billed my insurance co $2,000.00. The Dr. billed them $975.00. I have a high deductible so I will be responsible for paying it. I think the end result will be $972 to the hospital and $535 to the Dr. They will hear from me, though, because those prices are ridiculous! My knee surgeon is just charging $977 for his part in my surgery on Thursday! Stay away from the ER!
