I went to the ETSU Fall Career & Graduate School Fair today after - TopicsExpress

I went to the ETSU Fall Career & Graduate School Fair today after class. I have been to various job fairs before, and this one was really lame. There were, perhaps, 35 or so organizations present to recruit students. Many of the tables in the Culp Center Ballroom were either empty or were unstaffed. By my count, 12 universities graduate schools sent representatives, and with the exception of Wake Forest in North Carolina, and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, all the schools were comparatively obscure. Every graduate school represented was well within a 250-mile radius of Johnson City. By contrast, I moved nearly 300 miles from my adopted hometown to come to ETSU. I am sure nearly all ETSU graduates find something nice to do after they leave campus, but what does todays event say about the economy here in northeast Tennessee? What does todays event say about the quality of our students, the reputation of this university, and the rigor of our academics?
