I went to the Flood Logic concert last night in Kirkwood. It was great. Here are my notes. • The opening act was Poley Varnell and you could see how much fun these guys were having performing. It was great fun and I found myself singing out loud on many of their songs. • My favorite Poley Varnell of the evening may have been their closing tune, John Hartford’s Delta Queen Waltz. Also excellent was when they played New Madrid. I never did figure out which one was Poley. • Flood Logic has really come together and last night they sounded TIGHT. • Perhaps their best cut of the evening was their rendition of Radio Clash by the Clash, they really seem to be in their element when playing punk and it comes through. • I really enjoyed it when they ventured off into a little improvisational jazz; Ryan Muskopf kills it on lead guitar. • The chicks were so hot last night they literally stripped down and jumped in. • In an interesting twist, Starwalt left BEFORE the police arrived. (I know, right?) • In another interesting turn of events, Tom and Nerd showed up on the wrong night. • Proving themselves to be true artists, the band declared they were not capable of playing at “half volume”. Bravo. Although we still got to hear them as that is when we got the improv. jazz segment. • A great fun evening. Great music from some fine young men. And a little from some not so young men too.
