I will admit, I will watch the news from LA and NYC on Sunday, I find the anchors of the city news interesting, and I unfortunately get a brief synposis of what allegedly is going on in the country and in the world........after watching yesterdays news, I was feeling awful, horrible that human beings can feel and act so angry, be in pain and prey on each other, when in reality we all have a lot of constants that will always be the same.......then I went to church and of course to the rec center. Lifting weights always evens out my moods, so that helped tremendously...but to make a long story short, I decided to ride a quick 20 miles on the spin bike before swimming....while riding I get to watch and observe basketball action on the mulitple courts below me, and one particular game, caught my eye. They were all college men, different sizes, shapes, skill set, nationalities and races playing a pick up game. During the course of the game one guy got hurt by another guy when he was challenging him to drive past and to the basket......what I thought was pretty amazing was they didnt fight, the game stopped, and the guy that was hurt walked over bent over to the side of the court holding his face...one of the really big guys walked over to him and put his hand on his back and talked to him. He turned to the others standing around and then the entire group of guys started walking around looking at the floor. This is when I figured out he had been poked in the eye and that they were all looking for his contact. He stayed bent over and every guy on the floor walked slow staring at the floor looking for his contact......they did this for about 20 minutes, It didnt appear that they ever found it. The injured guy recovered and joined in looking and eventually gave up and then the game resumed. I am not really sure what my point is, the only thing I thought was how important games are and why will people follow the rules of games, accept consequences, (fouls) even when they often disagree, but then they continue on within the context of the game. Their team often compensates, picks up the slack or damage the player or players have temporarily done to the team and why people/players wont do these kind of things in the game of life. There are so many things to think about compare and contrast .......everyone fouls, some more than others, (wink), but we are all players in the game despite our differences. It was pretty refreshing to see many different kinds of men look after each other, and to resume the game according to the rules....just wish this could be real life....end of rant...... another reason, I should NOT watch television :-)
