I will be a dead poet some day. My rhymes lace the internet, have shown up in newspapers, text books and even a few real books. Will I be a member of the society like William Shakespeare and now Robin Williams? Time will tell. Tragedy and comedy are closely related. We use it to entertain. We like to laugh and even cry. Depression, well that is another story. No one and I mean no one likes to be depressed. I reflected on this all day as I worked. I fix things that are broken. That is how I make a living. It dawned on me we can fix almost anything and make it good as new, at least for a while, except for people. I am around broken people a lot. Today I fixed a mans faucet. He has OCD. The faucet was dripping and he could not get it to stop. I changed out the washers and made sure it would not drip and then let him have a try. He turned the faucet carefully on, first cold, then hot. When he turned them off it dawned on me what the real problem was, he turned the hot water handle off and then the cold making sure each handle was in exactly the same place, pointing exactly the same direction, the cold water began to drip. I took both handles off and then put them back on so the water was off with both handles in the same position. When he again turned the knobs on and off he was incredibly happy. He had had this same faucet fixed at least twice before with the same result by other people. They just did not understand why he said it still leaked. Long story short I am sad when I see broken people. I would like to be able to fix them but I am not sure medicine, religion, or even time have the ability to do so. Robin Williams was a broken person. He knew he needed to be fixed and sought help to do so. The day someone discovers how to fix broken people will only come with people wanting to do so. Most of the time they dont understand the problem or ignore the issues. Today I fixed a faucet. I couldnt fix the man but I hope I made his life a little more bearable.
