I will lie down and sleep in peace, Lord, you alone keep me safe. Psalm 4:8 Do you find it hard to lay down and go to sleep when you have thousands of things running through your mind? It would be nice to fall asleep without thinking of all these things. In the verse we read from Psalm 4, David says he will “lie down and fall asleep in peace.” David was the king of Israel and had a lot of things he could have worried about. One example is he had to protect and provide food for lots and lots of people. The good thing is that David knew God was the one who kept him safe. He knew God gave him peace. David also knew God would keep his country safe and give them peace. David turned his worries over to God.When we are trying to sleep, we should think about the peace God can give us When we go to sleep, it is time to sleep, not worry. God is in control. He will keep us safe while sleeping. This is a great reminder that God is close. He is watching and he is protecting. His peace is always near. In the Bible verse, David is talking to God. Praying to our Father before we go to sleep is a really good idea. We can ask for a peaceful sleep, and turn our worries over to God. Dear God, thank you for the words of your Psalm 4 and servant David. We want these words to remind us you are watching over us, even at night when we try to sleep. Help us remember you are in control and you will take care of things. You will keep us safe. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name we pray. blessings..sandy
