I will never forget this. Every detail, every smell. 9/11/2001 - TopicsExpress

I will never forget this. Every detail, every smell. 9/11/2001 I was sleeping in a hotel room just on the outside of San Francisco. Recycled percussion my band had just performed a few hours prior as the halftime show for the 49ers and Atlanta falcons. It was the biggest show in band history at that point. I woke up and had seen over 20 missed calls mostly from my step mother. I knew immediately something was off. No texting or media alerts then on phones so I called her back and she hit me with the news. At that point all the other guys in the band were still sleeping, so I woke them and turned the TV on. What happened that day words can never paint a picture. An event so beyond the grasp of consciousness to understand. We knew we had to get back to New Hampshire, we were sad, scared and homesick. All flights were grounded in and out of that area so we rented a 2001 silver Lincoln town car and drove from SF to NH with an American flag hanging off or trunk. We did the drive in 44 hours. I still feel the impact of that day just as I did the day it happened as I write this. I would love for you to share with me what YOU were doing that day and the impact its had on your or maybe someone you know. 9/11 will never be forgotten, never!
