I will not shed any tears if FB dies out.... Why should - TopicsExpress

I will not shed any tears if FB dies out.... Why should I? Though I started using computer sometime in 1982, I sent my first email only 15 years later, in 1997. I simply could not believe what was happening! Then what all happened! I remember a computer magazine predicting in 1999 that “if the hard disk size grows at this rate, one day it might even reach 100 GB.” I thought they were dreaming... A few years ago everyone was talking about Orkut and I felt like an idiot. I asked my son what it was all about and he said – “It is not your cup of tea, Pops.” But I did drink that tea to my heart’s content.. Then there were talks about Facebook.. Again, I asked my children – what is this? I was told, “It is not for old Mallus like you.... it is for the intelligentsia.” I never hoped become intelligentsia, but, lo and behold! I am spending a lion’s share of my wakeful hours in the FB company. Will FB die? Yes, it might.. And why not? People will walk away from FB only when they have a better option. And that will happen... Sooner than one could expect. Zukerberg is not my father-in-law and I never had to affirm my allegiance to him. When I have something better, I will certainly bid farewell to Zuckerberg (Sugar Mountain). Then, why there is a study report with the fantastic finding that FB will be a thing of the past by 2017? I think, they have some sinister intention... We are a race shy to welcome changes in most spheres of our life.. But when it comes technology, we do change because we have got to change. I too will change with no tears in my eyes. The world will survive without Facebook but the friends it gave me from various parts of the world through FB will stay. Thank you, Zuckerberg... telegraph.co.uk/technology/facebook/10595884/Facebook-dead-or-alive.html
