I will preface this by saying...I am personally not a drag - TopicsExpress

I will preface this by saying...I am personally not a drag entertainer...so I wont pretend to know all. But as many know there is no bigger fan of the art that is drag than I. Ive been seeing this a lot lately and just would like to put in my two cents. I dont like how seasoned entertainers first defense is well there are two type of queens, real queens, and Drag Race queens. And to that I say...how dare you. You are making the connotation that your doing drag right because the show only churns out young top 40 queens. When in reality they have shown legends with the young...that have been in the business a long time. Chad Michaels, Porkchop, Bianca, Alyssa, Coco, Shanel. Character queens like Jade Jolie, Jinx, PhiPhi (now), Milk. Gospel queen Latrice Royale. Glamour Combo Queens like Princess. Trannies, dancing, pageant and the awesomeness that is nina flowers. Entertainers that even after the show stay true to their craft and their strengths. To this I say two things. 1. There is no right way. There were top 40 queens before the show. They will be there after. Its a style. Just not yours. And 2. Everyone would kill to be on the show. And youve probably put in a tape. Are they the be all end all of drag? The best always? Not by far. So many incredible entertainers yet to make it. But its not fair to trivialize....or use it as an excuse not to expand and grow in your craft. Drag is ever growing. It is frustrating that truly incredibly talented queens may never get the opportunity for that grand televised stage. True artists deserve their 15 minutes. But know that true fans will always find you. And you are loved and appreciated. Hold your head high queens knowing you made the world more beautiful.
