Deuteronomy 18:18 & 21 Now this is the following commentary written in the Hebrew –Greek Key Word Study Bible on the above @ pg 271…it speaks for itself…The existence of prophets during the period of the monarchy presented a number of problems, one of which was how to distinguish between the true and false ones. Turbulent times, during which the people wanted to hear words of hope and security, produced the greatest outbreak of prophets for hire and seers with optimistic lies…Moses gave one of the tests by which the people could distinguish a true prophet from a false one. If the prophet’s message did not come true as predicted, he was a false prophet (See 1 Kings 22:28)…Another test for a true prophet was that he had to have the ability , as a sign of God’s calling, to perform miracles (Exodus 4:6)
