I will resume as Ekiti Speaker soon —Omirin What do you think - TopicsExpress

I will resume as Ekiti Speaker soon —Omirin What do you think is the reason behind your reported removal as the Speaker? I remain the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly. The illegality they carried out today (Thursday) will remain so. There was no impeachment. I, Adewale Omirin, remain the speaker, I was elected as the Speaker. by 25 lawmakers and seven of them cannot remove me.They needed 18 lawmakers to impeach me but they didn’t have that number. Seven members of the House plus three hoodlums who know nothing about lawmaking sat illegally and said they have removed me. It is all a joke. What they have done in the face of the Constitution is an act if illegality. It is obvious now that the governor is bent on committing illegality and he wants his lapdogs at the Assembly so that there won’t be anybody to caution him. He wants to turn the Assembly into his rubber stamp and the only way he can do that is to remove those of us who he thinks will not condone lawlessness... You are accused of making attempts to undermine Fayose’s administration because you belong to the opposition party. How true is this? I am an Ekiti man and I am interested in the development of the state. I am ready to do anything that will bring development to the state. He asked for our concurrence for him to access a N220bn loan from the Central Bank; we passed it. We were also about to pass the commissioner-nominees; except that we didn’t pass them that day. But to our surprise, before the end of the day, it was in the news that we did not pass the list of commissioner-nominees because we were asking for N135m. So, how have I undermined his administration? I don’t do that, I can never do it. I am interested in the development of Ekiti State, but we have to do this according to the law. Does he want us (lawmakers) to get ourselves involved in lawlessness to please him? We won’t do that. One of his aides was behind the fabricated report that I demanded N135m to pass the commissioner-nominees. I did not ask anybody for any money and other lawmakers did not demand for money. This is pure blackmail. The people of the state know that it is blackmail from the governor’s camp.
