I will take this issue up with each person individually as it occurs, but I have to put this out there because I am at a point of changing my home phone number. Why do people have such HORRIBLE phone etiquette? Maybe etiquette expert Jacqueline Whitmore can link me to something shes addressed about this before? When you call my home number, you generally get voicemail. It says to leave a message and I will call you back. This means...after youve left a message DO NOT CALL ME REPEATEDLY EVERY HOUR and hang up every time you get voicemail again. When you get my voicemail, that means my phone is not being answered for a reason. It could be that I am not home, but I WILL get a notification showing youve left me a message. That does not mean I drop what I am doing outside the home to call you back. It does not mean I stop driving to call you back. It does not mean I need to call you back at all. It means I will call you back when I am done with what I am presently doing. Other times I may be home, but the baby is sleeping. It may also mean my husband is having a stressful day and we dont need added layers of stress or noise. The ringer is off most of the time, but not all the time. I do have kids who may need me on an emergency basis while they are at school. In other words, YES we need the phone to be on but NO we dont need to answer the call just because you called. Unless it involves blood or smoke.... leave a message and STOP bullying me into answering. I am not here to cater to whatever agenda you have going on. Even if it is important, there happens to be MORE important things going on in my life and YOU CAN WAIT YOUR TURN! Now, with that said, I am going to take a nap. Not that I have to explain, but for demonstration purposes....You need to know I just got in from driving through a hellacious snow storm that socked me in overnight unexpectedly. I am wiped out and any calls that fall into the category of being a pain in my ass will be blocked accordingly. Learn some phone manners, will ya? Thanks.
