I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, - TopicsExpress

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (1 Timothy 2:8 KJV) Prayer is a strong avenue of our communication to our Heavenly Father. If we had no other way to communicate than just reading His Word, our lives would be fruitless and incomplete. He does communicate to us through the power if His Word. Prayer brings us closer to Him. We may pray on bended knees, flat on our faces in constant turmoil, standing with hands straight up, lifting them to Heaven in honor and praise of a mighty and glorious God. Whatever position we take, the important factor is that we are reaching out to Him. Our prayers can take several forms, soft and melodious as the Psalms of comfort. Constant perhaps repetitious, questioning-as-in WHY? Trust as we seek guidance and His comfort, love and joy. Intercessory, as we pray for others. I like to define prayer this way; A.C.T.S - Adoration- giving to Him first of all praise and adoration for who He is. Confession- bringing myself to Him for complete cleansing and restoration. Thanksgiving, thanking Him for all He has done, is doing and will continue to do in my life as well as others. Supplication, bringing others to Him, seeking guidance to reach out to those I meet daily. Lift up your voice as you speak to Him today. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care, And bids me at my Father’s throne Make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief, My soul has often found relief And oft escaped the tempter’s snare By thy return, sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! The joys I feel, the bliss I share, Of those whose anxious spirits burn With strong desires for thy return! With such I hasten to the place Where God my Savior shows His face, And gladly take my station there, And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! Thy wings shall my petition bear To Him whose truth and faithfulness Engage the waiting soul to bless. And since He bids me seek His face, Believe His Word and trust His grace, I’ll cast on Him my every care, And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! May I thy consolation share, Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height, I view my home and take my flight: This robe of flesh I’ll drop and rise To seize the everlasting prize; And shout, while passing through the air, “Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!” Love, prayers and blessing for each of you today.
